THE STORY SO FAR

Sharon @ FabricSmiths

Frustrated by the high costs and endless hurdles that keep beautiful surface pattern designs trapped on computer screens instead of translated to fabric or products, Sharon asked her husband Steve if it was possible to build a website that provided an affordable, convenient way for her to create custom digitally printed products using designs she creates or curates.

The FabricSmiths website provides a direct-to-consumer marketplace of hundreds of designs, printed on more than 50 products, all produced in the USA.

From Galashiels, Scotland to GA, USA

Sharon's surface design journey started in the 90s, when she studied Textile Design at The Scottish College of Textiles, now School of Textiles and Design at Heriot-Watt University.

Throughout her degree program, firsthand observational drawing, particularly of botanical and natural inspiration, was emphasized. In addition to a deep love of all things floral, a lifelong love of observational drawing and printed pattern has guided her design style.

Sharon graduated Heriot-Watt University with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree.

Her work experience includes representing technology company's involved in the textile industry as well as creating designs for internationally renowned studios, brands & labels.

Sharon maintains her strong bond with education, driving content and learning in international educational establishments.
